Kissimmee: A Destination of Its Own

Everyone knows that Kissimmee is a great place to stay during a Disney vacation - but did you know that it’s a destination itself? Kissimmee offers a gateway to the great outdoors, where you can climb into the treetops or go mudding in the swamps. Kissimmee offers world-famous theme parks practically on your doorstep! Not to mention world class dining, entertainment and attractions. Kissimmee is said to be the vacation home capital of the world, but it also hosts a range of resorts from high end to high value, and plenty of campgrounds and RV parks for more outdoorsy types.

Everyone can get their kicks at Fun Spot America, a family-friendly theme park with several locations throughout the U.S. - and we’ve chosen its Kissimmee location because of this area’s reputation as a family vacation destination. Combining theme park thrills with classic midway games and satisfying eateries, there is something for everyone at this park. Ride the only wooden roller coaster in Florida that goes upside-down, scream in suspense as what goes up must come down on the Screamer, swing into the sky on the Hot Seat, or take it easy with scenic views from the carousel or while playing games at the midway or arcade. There are also kiddie rides for smaller tikes, and lots of places to stop for snacks. Perhaps one of the best perks of this park? It offers all of the thrills and excitement of bigger theme parks at a fraction of the cost, so you can keep coming back for more fun!

Imagine a thrilling outdoor experience that takes place high in the treetops of a lush pine forest! Orlando Tree Trek, which is actually located here in Kissimmee, is a unique outdoor adventure that really gets your blood pumping. Climb into the trees to experience zooming down a zipline, running across rope bridges, jumping over obstacles, and navigating your way through the course. Even though your adrenaline will be high, you will be completely safe, thanks to state-of-the-art safety equipment used by the park. There are two special courses designed for younger climbers ages seven and eight, with four courses for adults. Whether you want to play for 45 minutes or four hours, the choice is yours!

Magic Moment Resort and Kids Club is a boutique hotel with a big dream, promoting quality time for families in an era when this has become a rarity. Magic Moment is passionate in creating an environment of togetherness, making every moment count with all kinds of unique touches that make it fun for everyone. The luxurious lobby area is great for adults, while it’s contrasted by the special area for young ones: a kid’s club with bright colors, comfy couches, toys to share, video games, tabletop games, and more! The pool is another venue for adventure, and even has a snack bar to keep the little ones’ “hanger” at bay. When you want to spend some quiet time together, sit and tell stories in the beautiful garden area. If you can ever convince the kids to go back to the suite, you can enjoy the absolute beauty and finery of the contemporary-chic decor, special little touches like big bathtubs and fluffy bathrobes. Mornings are easier for kids to get through with breakfast at the resort’s eatery (pro-tip: make them smile with Mickey Mouse pancakes) and you’re close enough to all of Orlando’s big attractions without having to pay Orlando resort prices!

Orlando: Where There’s a World of Magic

When you visit Orlando, we’re hoping you plan to stay a while - because there’s so much to see and do here! The perfect getaway for vacationers of any age, Orlando is far more than the theme parks for which it’s known; here, you will find world-class arts and culture, thrilling adventures and easy-going excursions, and some of the most luxurious hotels imaginable.

Spend an afternoon at the Orlando Museum of Art, which annually hosts 10-12 different exhibitions of cultural, local, and national and international significance. See collections that include African artwork, art of the Ancient Americas, contemporary works including art and graphics, and so much more. The museum welcomes art lovers of all ages, and offers youth programs to engage young artists. Are you a Bank of America customer? Then you’ll receive one free general admission as part of their “Museums on Us” program!

Get dressed up and enjoy a fabulous evening at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, a completely unique performance hall that features performances and events like Broadway favorites, popular musical artists, comedic performances, dance, opera, symphony, and more. In fact, the center hosts over 300 shows per year! The center offers delicious dining options on site, and also works with local restaurants and hotels to offer great deals.

The massive shopping, dining, and entertainment center known as ICON Park is home to several scary rides (as well as some tame ones, but that’s not necessarily what you’re here for). A revolutionary step forward in thrill rides is the 7D Dark Adventure Ride, which employs seven dimensions including wind, sound, movement, and more to give you a beyond-real feeling as you try your hand at a hair-raising first-person-shooter experience that ranges in subject matter from killer robots to brain-hungry zombies! A must-do, can’t-miss observation wheel that towers over Orlando at 400 feet tall. Then, head outside to the StarFlyer and prepare to scream your head off as you soar 450 feet in the air on a rotating thrill ride that gives you stunning views of the city (if you’re brave enough to open your eyes). StarFlyer rotates in a full circle at up to 45 mph, which feels even faster when you’re that high up!

New to Florida is the Museum of Illusions Orlando. The museum welcomes you to the fascinating world of illusions which will trick your confidence in senses, but amaze you by doing it; the world that will confuse you completely, but also educate you. Let your imagination run free in the vast expanse of the Infinity Room, defy the laws of gravity in the Reverse Room, shrink to miniature size in the Ames Room - all while capturing you in the coveted, impossible photo (which you have to see to believe). Amusing and awesome tricks will teach you about vision, perception, the human brain and science so it will be easier to perceive why your eyes see things which your brain cannot understand. Make sure you visit the playroom with intriguing and educational games and puzzles.

Just opened last year and inspired by the wonders of the universe, the Celeste Hotel is a Tribute Portfolio hotel that reflects the stars. Their goal is to take guests on “a true expedition through time and space, with celestial influence from corner to corner.” Through their specialty decor and furnishings inspired by the wonders of the galaxy, they have crafted a one of a kind hotel stay that enters a new dimension of refined service and first class hospitality. Dine on American cuisine at the hotel restaurant, grab a drink at the bar or a snack at the market, or take some laps in the outdoor pool.

One of Orlando’s most memorable hotels is The Grand Bohemian Hotel Orlando, which is just as fabulous as it sounds. Filled with stunning architecture and over 150 rare works of art blended seamlessly with the décor, this landmark luxury hotel provides a unique guest experience with a dazzling blend of art, music, and hospitality. Accommodations offer the “sultry side of relaxation,” with velvet drapes on the windows, soft carpets, big beds, and plenty of amenities. There are standard rooms and specialty suites available; we certainly recommend the Jacuzzi Suite! Take a dip in the rooftop pool, order a cocktail at the Bösendorfer Lounge while enjoying live jazz, or indulge in a massage at the Poseidon Spa.

Ocala: Horse Capital of the World

Explore Ocala, in Marion County, to discover classic Florida charm on an unforgettable retreat, where you can relax all day or take on a spirited adventure. It’s also an equestrian destination: in 2007, Ocala/Marion County was officially named the “Horse Capital of the World™,” a testament to the County’s unique involvement in all things equestrian and its record of producing some of the finest champions in the sport. With a beautiful, mild climate all year long and soil rich with limestone calcium for strong bones, Ocala/Marion County is home to more horses than anywhere else in the country. It’s home to national and international equestrian events and competitions, including the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit, Live Oak International and Ocala Breeders’ Sale (including one in June). And if you’re just looking for a good ol’ trail ride, the area’s stables can get you started on what is only the beginning to a family tradition, year after year.

The highly anticipated international destination located in the “Horse Capital of the World” is becoming reality, as the largest equestrian and multi-purpose event complex in the U.S. opened in late 2020 with the hotel grand opening expected this year. The centerpiece of the state-of-the-art World Equestrian Center is the 248 room five-story luxury hotel complete with retail shopping, bakery, spa, unique food and beverage options, and much more. Onsite event venues include four indoor arenas, climate controlled stabling for more than 2,000 horses and 17 outdoor arenas. The beautifully landscaped grounds will enhance the serenity of the onsite chapel, as well as miles of walking and jogging trails all within easy access to the planned 4,000 acre World Equestrian Estates community.

In October 2020, the Reilly Arts Center broke ground on their 15,590-square foot expansion. The Reilly Arts Center is home to the Ocala Symphony Orchestra and is a performing arts hub in Ocala/Marion County. The expansion includes a new black box theater that will be flat floor space flexible for a variety of uses including: concerts: media events, receptions, community events and more. Additionally, the lobby and box office will be expanded, along with new performing arts teaching facilities. The Reilly Arts Center is located just five blocks from Ocala's Historic Downtown Square in Tuscawilla Park.

Anyone visiting Ocala — whether for horses or championship golf —  should experience a stay at Hilton Ocala. Wind down in a stylish guest room with comfortable furnishings, separate living room and balcony in a spacious suite, or choose a room on the Thoroughbred Level for private elevator access and Executive Lounge entry, with complimentary breakfast and evening drinks. Practice sunrise yoga at the Reserve, sip on a hand-crafted cocktail and enjoy a fresh meal at Market Kitchen & Bar. One favorite activity for guests is a carriage ride with Buddy, the resident Clydesdale. Float peacefully in the pool with six green acres and majestic oaks in view, or meander through Chef's Garden.
